DESCRIPTION:Join us in discovering how tectonic forces shape Oregon�s la
 ndscapes. \nThis is an in-person program.\nThe volcanic landscapes of Cent
 ral Oregon have been shaped by tectonic forces that are active on a global
  scale. In Central Oregon\, these forces interact to create a geologically
  diverse region of snow-covered volcanic peaks\, landscapes created by fau
 lts\, and some of the largest volcanic eruptions on earth. In this present
 ation\, Dr. Daniele McKay\, geologist and instructor in the Department of 
 Earth Sciences at the University of Oregon\, will explore recent geologic 
 research that has changed our understanding of Central Oregon landscapes.\
 nDr. Daniele McKay is a Senior Instructor in the Department of Earth Scien
 ces at the University of Oregon. She lives in Bend\, Oregon and teaches on
 line geology courses throughout the academic year\, and field courses in C
 entral Oregon during the summer. Her research background is in physical vo
 lcanology with a focus on recent mafic eruptions in the Central Oregon Cas
 cades. She is also interested in how societies prepare for and respond to 
 natural disasters\, especially volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. She has
  worked with Deschutes County\, the Oregon Office of Emergency Management\
 , Oregon Partnership for Disaster Resilience\, and the Red Cross on natura
 l hazard preparedness and mitigation in central Oregon.\nhttps://earthscie
