Do you love horror stories? Have you ever wondered why? Do people look at you oddly when you tell them your favorite book is The Shining or The Only Good Indian? Well\, you 're not alone. And you're not weird. There are good reasons we are drawn t o the monstrous and terrifying. When Stephen King was asked why he would w ant to make up horrible things when there is so much real horror in the wo rld\, he said "we make up horror to help us cope with the real ones". (Dan se Macabre\, 1987). Reading or watching horror may not just be normal\, it may actually be beneficial.
