 </p>\n<p>Please join us for this civics refresher geared to citizens of al
 l ages. During an interactive 90-minute session we will explore the meanin
 g and importance of civic involvement as the means to support a civil demo
 cracy. We will discuss the importance of the simple act of voting and revi
 ew Oregon's governmental structure at the state and local levels. We will 
 also discuss types of civic involvement so participants can consider level
 s of engagement works for them.</p>\n<p>This session was developed with SA
 GE\, (Senior Advocates for Generational Equity) and an organization dedica
 ted to inspiring and supporting people over fifty to give forward so that 
 future generations thrive.</p>\n<p><strong>Judy Stiegler</strong><br />Jud
 y currently teaches political science classes at OSU-Cascades and Central 
 Oregon Community College. Previously\, she served two years as State Repre
 sentative for District 54 in the Oregon State house\, where she co-chaired
  the House Judiciary Committee. As a State Representative and practicing a
 ttorney Judy worked in juvenile justice and education spheres. Her service
  includes being a member of the Oregon Government Ethics Commission and th
 e Quality Education Commission. Judy is a long-time resident of Bend.</p>\
 n<p><strong>Cheryl Nee-Gieringer</strong><br />Cheryl coordinates SAGE's C
 itizen Project to inspire and support people to work across differences to
  solve problems. Cheryl also has a long-term\, continuing involvement with
  the Creative Education Foundation and is a presenter at its annual Creati
 ve Problem Solving Institute. Prior to joining SAGE\, Cheryl managed workf
 orce development programs for a non-profit in the Portland Metro region.</
