DESCRIPTION:Come learn about West African Culture through drumming! \nThis
  is an in-person program. Registration is required. &lt\;em&gt\;This progr
 am is recommended for children ages 6 and up\, and all children must be ac
 companied by a caregiver.&lt\;/em&gt\;\nIn this class you will learn a lit
 tle bit about West African Culture through drum rhythms\; why we play diff
 erent rhythms\, when we play them\, and for what occasions. Instructor Fod
 � Sylla will teach the 3 basic djembe hand positions: slap\, tone\, and 
 base. Djembe and Dundun drums will be provided\, and a variety of other pe
 rcussion instruments will be available.\nFod� Sylla is a dynamic acrobat
 \, drummer\, dancer and performance artist from Conakry\, Guinea. He teach
 es drumming\, dance\, and acrobatics to students of all ages and skill lev
 els. He recently taught in France and was on tour with a circus in New Yor
 k. He teaches traditional African Dance regularly at University of Oregon 
 in Eugene and for Eugene City Parks and Recreation. He has performed and t
 aught at the Bend Juneteenth Celebration\, Oregon Country Fair\, The Ellio
 tt Institute\, and Seattle Rhythm Festival\, to name a few. He is a popula
