Michael Lavrich and his beloved train disp lay are back at the Downtown Bend Library with the help of his son\, Kiera n\, and long-time helpers\, Parker Gerard and Grace Lickwar.

This marks Lavrich's twenty-first year displaying his trains at the library\, m eaning children who first watched the trains run years ago may now have ch ildren of their own with whom they share this family tradition. Lavrich be gan collecting trains more than 20 years ago. While the public only sees t he display once it's all up and running\, the set-up involves a lot of bac kground work. "I pretty well dedicate December to this\," Lavrich says. "I t's a three day set-up and a four day take-down\, and there are a few week s on each end at home." All ages are invited to watch and listen as t he trains run. Lavrich's collection represents trains of the 1920s and '30 s made by Lionel\, Dorfan\, Ives and American Flyer.
