DESCRIPTION:Examine child development through a social\, physical\, and de
velopmental lens.\nThis is an in-person program. Registration is required.
\nCreated for parents\, caregivers\, and those who work with or on behalf
of children\, this 2-hour training provides education and insight on the
 ages and stages of a child&#39\;s development\, examining each through a s
ocial\, physical\, and developmental lens. The training also provides guid
ance on how to talk to children about their bodies. You will learn about n
eurotypical childhood and adolescent development and determine what is con
sidered problematic or inappropriate behavior in children and youth. Parti
cipants will go through scenarios to gain hands-on experience on how to ha
ndle certain behaviors\, situations\, or questions that a child may have w
ith the appropriate response while remaining calm. The training is ideal f
or participants with or who work with children and youth ages 0-17 years o
ld.\nKIDS Center is a medical model Children&#39\;s Advocacy Center (CAC)
providing child abuse evaluations that include a head-to-toe medical exam\
 , child-friendly forensic interview\, family advocacy\, and mental health
services to children and families impacted by abuse. In addition\, our ser
vices include prevention programs to help teach adults in our community ho
w to better protect children from abuse.\nChildren are referred for a KIDS
Center evaluation by one of four community partners including law enforce
ment\, DHS Child Welfare\, medical providers\, and licensed mental health
professionals. Children and families can engage in KIDS Center advocacy an
d mental health services without participating in an evaluation. All of KI
DS Center services are provided at no cost.\n*cr*.\nhttps://dpl.libnet.inf
