1 to send a statue of Nisqually tribal leader\, activist\, and humanitaria
n Billy Frank Jr. to National Statuary Hall in Washington\, D.C. The legis
lation notes\, &ldquo\;Billy Frank Jr. dedicated his life advocating for e
quality\, justice\, and environmental protections. He fought to protect tr
ibal treaty rights\, native cultures and traditions\, and the natural reso
urces they are based upon.&rdquo\;<br /><br />The model of the statue will
be on display in the Port Angeles Main Library August 19-24\, 2024.<br />
<br />The model is a copy of the clay model made by renowned Chinese Ameri
can sculptor Haiying Wu as he developed his vision for a statue of the lat
e Nisqually leader. Wu is developing this model into an 11-foot tall clay
statue\, which will be cast in bronze.<br /><br />Take part in this specia
l opportunity to see Wu&rsquo\;s craftsmanship up close and experience his
tory in the making. <a href="https://catalog.nols.org/MyAccount/MyList/482
