X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>In this talk\, Dr. Barlow will discuss her
work partnering with the <a href="https://www.oacao.org/programs/links2we
llbeing/">Older Adult Centres&rsquo\; Association of Ontario's (OACAO) Lin
ks2Wellbeing</a>: Social Prescribing for Older Adults project. Social Pres
cribing is a holistic approach to healthcare that brings together the soci
al and medical models of health and wellness. It provides a formal pathway
for health providers to address the diverse determinants of health\, usin
g the familiar and trusted process of writing a prescription. While in it'
s early stages in collaboration with student researchers\, the partnership
aims to answer the following research questions:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>What are
the benefits (if any) of social prescribing programs in the Ontario health
care system? We will examine the benefits of social prescribing programs i
n Ontario for psychological well-being\, physical health\, and healthcare
utilization.</li>\n<li>Who participates and benefits from social prescribi
ng programs? We will explore the engagement with\, and benefits of\, socia
l prescribing programs across social groups (e.g.\, groups based on ethnic
 ity\, gender\, sexuality\, social economic standing).</li>\n<li>What barri
ers are preventing people from engaging in social prescribing programs? Id
entify and describe the perceptions of the barriers to participating in so
cial prescribing programming for both existing and potential patients acro
ss social groups\, as well as healthcare practitioners and community cente
rs.</li>\n<li>What are we going to do about it? We will mobilize the knowl
edge gained into practice and policy.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Presented in partner
ship with Wilfrid Laurier University.</p>\n<p><strong>About Dr. Meaghan Ba
