X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Art Talks at Brand\, formerly titled Art T
alk Tuesday\, is a monthly conversation that invites contemporary artists
to discuss their work and the issues surrounding it\, followed by a modera
ted Q&amp\;A with Brand staff member\, artist\, and writer Jennifer Remenc
hik. Artists are selected to reflect the diversity of the art scene of the
greater Los Angeles area.</p>\n<p>Kira Maria Shewfelt is a painter based
in Los Angeles. Taking influence from literary genres of Magical Realism a
nd Romanticism\, her painting explores the physical-spiritual connections
of contemporary life in saturated chroma\, high touch movement and gesture
s\, and subjects that portray intimate\, athletic\, and existential motifs
\, often set within the natural world. Shewfelt cultivates a visual langua
ge\, equal parts personal and symbolic\, engaging her imagery&rsquo\;s ope
n relationship to a shared and often communal narrative. She invites roman
ce and fantasy into the work as politically inclusive gestures\, with a hi
story of connecting self and other\, and reimagining stasis. Shewfelt&rsqu
o\;s paintings are often about love. Her work can be found in the collecti
on of AMOCA Wales and private collections internationally.</p>\n<p>The ser
ies is sponsored by the&nbsp\;<a href="https://associatesofbrand.org/"><st
