 Public Library System&rsquo\;s Special Collections and Archives division i
 s excited to announce the Archiving 101 program\, designed to teach the ba
 sics of archiving and preservation.</p>\n<p>In this informative and engagi
 ng workshop\, the Special Collections and Archives team will teach partici
 pants the importance of preserving their materials and storing and caring 
 for them properly. Participants will be guided through the process of arch
 iving and will cover topics such as assessment\, sorting\, proper housing 
 of items\, and creating a finding aid for the collection.</p>\n<p>Particip
 ants are encouraged to bring materials they want to preserve. This worksho
 p will primarily focus on printed materials\, photographs\, and small obje
 cts. Registered participants will receive a gently used archival-quality d
 ocument box and supplies to get started creating their collection.</p>\n<p
 ><strong>This program was made possible through generous funding from the 
 Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs.</strong></p>\n<p><em>Abo
 ut the Vasari Project:</em></p>\n<p>The Vasari Project is a library collec
 tion at Main Library dedicated to documenting\, collecting\, and preservin
 g Miami-Dade County's art history from 1945 to the present. It is a living
  archive that grows through contributions from artists\, art professionals
 \, exhibition spaces\, galleries\, institutions\, and private&nbsp\;donors
 .</p>\n<p>The Vasari Project is a resource for ongoing research\, scholars
 hip\, publications\, artists' projects\, exhibitions\, and events. The arc
 hive collects documentation rather than original works of art composed pri
 marily of printed matter: correspondence\, press clippings\, photographs\,
  posters\, books\, exhibition catalogs\, artists' files\, oral histories\,
  and other ephemeral&nbsp\;materials.</p>\n<p><em>About the Division of Sp
 ecial Collections &amp\; Archives:</em></p>\n<p>Miami-Dade Public Library 
 System&rsquo\;s Division of Special Collections &amp\; Archives is located
  at the Main Library and holds rare and irreplaceable historical materials
  for the benefit of the public and scholarly community. They oversee the H
 elen Muir Florida Collection\, 16mm Film Collection\, Cuban Collection of 
 Rare Books &amp\; Ephemera\, Genealogy Collection\, Vasari Project archive
 \, and Rare &amp\; Antiquarian books from as early as the 17th&nbsp\;centu
 ry. The Division aims to provide the public with the contents of these col
 lections at their request\, which include books\, original manuscripts\, o
 ver 18\,000 photographs\, prints\, artifacts\, audiovisual resources\, and
