The 2024 elections are over and inaugurati on day has passed! A slightly lower number of women ran for elected office - for the presidency\, in both chambers of Congress\, and in legislatures across the country- than in the last few election cycles. Many ballot issu es throughout the nation dealt with feminist issues: ten states decided ab ortion-related ballot issues\; five states decided whether to increase the ir states minimum wages (federal minimum wage has stagnated at $7.25/hour since 2009)\; and two states decided if paid sick leave should be required .
\nWe'll discuss what the outcomes of the 2024 election cycle means for feminist issues and how the results effect women in our area\, state\ , and country.
\nThe Steinem Sisters Collection cha mpions women&rsquo\;s historical\, cultural\, and political contributions and strives to provide a welcoming space for women from all walks of life to share their truths. It is composed of &ldquo\;feminist materials\,&rdqu o\; intersectional works that uphold human and women&rsquo\;s rights and i nterests in defining and promoting political\, economic\, personal\, and s ocial equality of the sexes\, races\, classes\, sexual orientations\, and genders. The Steinem Sisters Collection has grown to over 900 titles in th e ten years since its inception. Regular programming\, including book disc ussion groups and talking circles\, aims to highlight the collection and b uild community. This collection was possible due to a generous donation by The Steinem&rsquo\;s Sisters Collective.
