hen Alice spots a white rabbit checking his pocket watch before hippity-ho
pping down a crevasse in an Alaskan glacier\, she knows she must follow hi
 m. And so she pops down the rabbit hole\, into a world of absurd personali
 ties\, topsy-turvy action\, and laugh-out-loud silliness. Characters like
the Cheshire Cat\, Duchess\, King\, and Queen come to life as vibrant anim
als native to Alaska\, certain to appeal to readers of all ages.</p>\n<p>T
o celebrate the release of <em>Alice in a Winter Wonderland</em>\, Jan Bre
tt will once again embark on a national bus tour\, visiting 23 cities in j
ust 17 days - and Spokane is one of them! Jan Brett is thrilled to continu
e her beloved tradition of traveling across the country visiting bookstore
 s\, libraries\, and schools in a show-stopping bus\, this time branded wit
 h characters from<em> Alice in a Winter Wonderland</em>.</p>\n<p><strong>A
bout Jan Brett</strong></p>\n<p>Jan Brett lives in a seacoast town in Mass
achusetts close to where she grew up. During the summer\, her family moves
to a home in the Berkshire Hills. She is a New York Times #1 bestselling
 author/illustrator\, one of America&rsquo\;s most popular\, with over 44 m
illion books in print\, and has brought to life lovable characters and ima
ginary backdrops for children for more than 40 years. Her illustrations ar
e adored for their classic beauty and vibrant\, life-like images of animal
s\, landscapes\, and flourishes from cultures around the world.</p>\n<p>As
a child\, Jan Brett decided to be an illustrator and spent many hours rea
ding and drawing. She says\, &ldquo\;I remember the special quiet of rainy
days\, when I felt that I could enter the pages of my beautiful picture b
ooks. Now I try to recreate that feeling of believing that the imaginary p
lace I&rsquo\;m drawing really exists. The detail in my work helps to conv
ince me\, and I hope others as well\, that such places might be real.&rdqu
o\;</p>\n<p>While Jan is most known for her children&rsquo\;s books\, she
is also an award-winning breeder of ornamental fowl (fancy chickens!). Som
