ut their process for \;fabricating light strings for \;Felix Gonza
lez-Torres's artwork\, \;"Untitled" (America)\, currently on
display at the MLK Library in conjunction with a major exhibition presente
d by the National Portrait Gallery and Archives of American Art. In their&
nbsp\;talk\, \;matteline \;will go into both the technical aspects
of \;fabricating light-based artworks\, including &ldquo\;Untitle
d&rdquo\; (America)&mdash\; and how Felix Gonzalez-Torres's work has&
nbsp\;influenced the studio&rsquo\;s collaboration with artists. Originall
y from the DMV\, \;matteline \;got their start in light art fabric
ation in D.C.\, working with Craig Kraft\, an instructor from the Smithson
ian Institution.

side look at how many artists produce complex or technically difficult des
igns that go beyond the capabilities of an individual artist's studio.

\;(1994)\, comprised of \;twelve light strings that \;are sho
wn in different configurations across locations inside and outside the mus
eum\, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. \; The in
stallation of this artwork is presented in partnership with the Smithsonia
n&rsquo\;s National Portrait Gallery and Archives of American Art\, as par
t of the exhibition \;Felix Gonzalez-Torres: Always to Return
\, on view from October 18\, 2024 through July 6\, 2025. Other sites inclu
de the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture\, includ
ing the facade of the Old Patent Office Building\; and outdoors along 8th
Street between D and F streets NW in partnership with the DowntownDC BID.<
