If you are in grades 4\, 5 or 6 and love t o read and have fun talking about books and characters\, No Shelf Control is the place for you! This month\, we'll discuss "Montgomery and the Case of the Golden Key\," \;the story of ten-year-old Montgomery Carver who tries to solve a mystery around a strange object he's found in his Chicag o neighborhood in 2008\, amid the background of a presidential election an d the city's attempt to lure the Olympics into town. This is the initial b ook in the Black Teacup Mysteries series by author Tracy Occomy Crowder\, who was influenced by Nancy Drew\, Hardy Boys\, and Harriet the Spy. The a uthor\, main characters\, and several themes in the book reflect important dimensions of Black History Month. We will also have a mystery activity f or participants to solve after the book discussion!
\nYou can borrow a copy (with a specially prepared reading guide just for our group) from the Connie Morella Library\; just ask at the Check Out or Information Desk s for the September book for No Shelf Control. You can also access the boo k as an \;e-book< /a> \;or an e-au diobook on the free Libby app or Overdrive online (the book is not cur rently available through Hoopla).
