Are you concerned because of a family hist ory of hearing loss or dementia? As the world population ages\, the number of people living with dementia and other types of cognitive impairment co ntinues to rise. Safe and affordable interventions to prevent or slow age- related cognitive decline are needed. Studies have found an association be tween hearing loss and the development of dementia in older adults. Resear ch also suggests that using hearing aids to treat hearing loss may help sl ow the development of cognitive problems. In 2020\, the Lancet Commission on Dementia Prevention\, Intervention and Care identified 12 potentially m odifiable risk factors for dementia. Hearing loss is one of the risk facto rs identified.
