\nThe AARLCC Special Collections contai n archival materials documenting the history and culture of people of Afri can\, African American\, and Caribbean descent. \; Strengths of the co llections include the history of Black librarianship in the United States\ , Black literature in the African diaspora\, photography\, and Broward Cou nty&rsquo\;s Black history. The AARLCC Special Collections consist of more than 9\,000 books and periodicals\; collections of 20th-century African a rtifacts\; artwork by Haitian\, Jamaican\, and African American artists\; audiovisual materials encompassing more than 6\,000 vinyl record albums an d multiple oral history collections\; and over 1\,000 linear feet of manus cript and photograph collections.

\nAARLCC Special C ollections is one of three repositories in the Broward County Library Spec ial Collections department along with the Broward County Historical Archiv es and the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book.
