Born in 1939 in Wheeling\, West Virginia\, Ronald L.
Darrah has resided in Indiana since 1972. Ron earned his B.S. in Education
from Kent State University in 1967\, followed by graduate studies there i
n 1969-70. He also pursued undergraduate history courses at IUPUI from 199
6-2000.
Ron&rsquo\;s career includes teaching sixth grade in
Parma\, Ohio\, and serving as Supervisor of Warehousing for Indianapolis
Public Schools before retirement. He also retired as a Technical Sergeant
from the Indiana Air National Guard. With over 40 years of genealogical re
search experience\, Ron is Vice-President and Librarian of the Genealogica
l Society of Marion County and serves as Chair of the Indiana Genealogical
Society affiliates\, the Society of Civil War Families of Indiana\, and t
he Territorial Guard Society of Indiana. He has been recognized as a Fello
w of the Indiana Genealogical Society.
Ron is also a former Regist rar for the Clarence Cook Chapter of the Indiana Society\, Sons of the Ame rican Revolution\, and holds memberships in First Families of Ohio\, Civil War Families of Ohio\, the General Society of the War of 1812\, and the S ociety of the Descendants of Ireland.
\nAs a genealogy lecturer sinc e 1996\, Ron continues to share his expertise. His research focuses on fam ily names including Darrah\, O&rsquo\;Neill\, Blanchard\, Bowen\, Wilson\, Minor\, and Allen.
