 atural disasters. .\nhttps://dpl.libnet.info/event/12249371
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Based on his book\, <em>Floods\, Fires\, &
amp\; Volcanoes: Oregon's Greatest Natural Disasters</em>\, Oregon author
William L. Sullivan presents an illustrated lecture about the floods\, ear
thquakes\, forest fires\, eruptions\, and tsunamis that have hit Oregon du
ring the past 13\,000 years of human settlement. Although these disasters
occur at irregular intervals\, Sullivan shows that they are in fact part o
f natural cycles. It is not possible to predict these catastrophic events
precisely\, but we can prepare for their impact. Which volcano is likely t
o erupt next? Are we ready for the giant earthquake and tsunami that is co
ming to western Oregon?&nbsp\; And how will global warming change the natu
ral cycles behind Oregon's forest fires and floods?</p>\n<p><img src="http

author of a dozen books about Oregon\, including <em>Hiking Oregon's Histo
 ry</em>\, the popular <em>100 Hikes</em> series\, and <em>Oregon Trips &am
p\; Trails.</em> His journal of a 1000-mile hike he took across Oregon in
1985\, <em>Listening for Coyote</em>\, was chosen by the Oregon Cultural H
 eritage Commission as one of Oregon&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;100 Books\,&rdquo\; t
he 100 most significant books in the state&rsquo\;s history. He has also w
ritten a memoir and three novels.&nbsp\; Learn more at <a href="https://ww
