 these notions in original and complex ways. The subject of a major interna
 tional tour that began at The Broad in Los Angeles in May of 2024\, and tr
 avels to The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia on October 20\, and culmina
 tes at The Hayward Gallery in London from February 11 to May 5\, 2025\, Mi
 ckalene Thomas has assumed her rightful place in the pantheon of the most 
 important\, original\, and inspiring artists of the 21st Century.</p>\n<p>
 <strong>About the Presenter:</strong> Janet Mandel taught in New Jersey&rs
 quo\;s public schools for 32 years\, the last eighteen of which were at Co
 lumbia High School in Maplewood\, where she taught English\, art history\,
  and World Languages and Cultures. In October of 2003 she was named runner
 -up for the New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) Teacher of the Ye
 ar award and was formally recognized by the New Jersey State Legislature a
 nd Governor Codey for this achievement. In May of 2004 she was the recipie
 nt of the &ldquo\;Innovations in Special Education Award&rdquo\; from the 
 New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) and the Association of School
 s and Agencies for the Handicapped (ASAH). Now retired\, Janet presents il
 lustrated talks on a variety of art history topics at adult schools\, libr
 aries\, museums\, senior centers\, community centers\, and similar venues.
