 nd discusses the gorgeous illustrations in her recently published picture 
 books.</p>\n<p>About the presenter:</p>\n<p>Jiemei Lin is an artist born i
 n Hangzhou\, China\, currently living and working in the Inland Northwest\
 , Washington State. Lin works with both digital media and traditional medi
 a to create paintings\, murals\, and illustrations. Her works frequently t
 ake on themes of individual and cultural identity with a particular emphas
 is on design and color. Lin&rsquo\;s mission as an Illustrator is to repre
 sent and communicate with all audiences from underrepresented groups in he
 r own visual language. Lin is the author and illustrator of "Goodnight\, Z
 odiac animals" (Candlewick press) and the illustrator of "The Rock in my t
 hroat" (The Lerner publishing).</p>\n<p>The Lilac City Book Festival is a 
 yearly event to support local writers and illustrators of books for childr
 en and teenagers. It's organized by Spokane Public Library and presented i
 n partnership with Wishing Tree Books and the local chapter of the Society
  for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).</p>\n<p>By attendin
