  past 30 years\, <a href="https://www.wondersofweird.com/">Kelly Milner Ha
 lls</a> has written nonfiction for young readers&mdash\;first in magazines
  and newspapers (1\,500 articles)\, then in children's books (more than 60
  titles published). She lives and writes in Spokane and travels frequently
 \, speaking to schools and young readers across the country.</p>\n<p>The L
 ilac City Book Festival is a yearly event to support local writers and ill
 ustrators of books for children and teenagers. It's organized by Spokane P
 ublic Library and presented in partnership with <a href="https://wishingtr
 eebookstore.com/">Wishing Tree Books</a> and the local chapter of the <a h
 ref="https://www.scbwi.org/regions/inlandnw">Society for Children's Book W
 riters and Illustrators</a> (SCBWI).&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>By attending library p
