Alma Thomas (1 891&ndash\;1978) was a trailblazing artist who overcame the harsh realitie s of racism\, segregation\, and prejudice to achieve remarkable success. A s a Black woman in her time\, she broke barriers with her vibrant\, colorf ul abstract art that reflected her radiant creative spirit.
\nIn thi s session\, we&rsquo\;ll explore Thomas's iconic artwork Resurrection< /em> (1966)\, which made history as the first piece by a Black woman to be displayed in the public spaces of the White House and to join its permane nt collection in 2015. Participants will have the chance to create their o wn Resurrection-inspired painting&mdash\;no prior painting experi ence needed
