Join us for a unique opportunity to tour A ARLCC Special Collections before the Reveal the Beauty: The Literature and Art of the Harlem Renaissance exhibit opening reception. During the tour\ , you will see rare and historic items up close\, meet the archival staff\ , and learn about how students\, scholars\, and the public are using the c ollections in their original research.
\nThe AARLCC Special Collecti ons contain archival materials documenting the history and culture of peop le of African\, African American\, and Caribbean descent. \; Strengths of the collections include the history of Black librarianship in the Unit ed States\, Black literature in the African diaspora\, photography\, and B roward County&rsquo\;s Black history. The AARLCC Special Collections consi st of more than 9\,000 books and periodicals\; collections of 20th-century African artifacts\; artwork by Haitian\, Jamaican\, and African American artists\; audiovisual materials encompassing more than 6\,000 vinyl record albums and multiple oral history collections\; and over 1\,000 linear fee t of manuscript and photograph collections.
\nAARLCC Special Collect ions is one of three repositories in the Broward County Library Special Co llections department along with the Broward County Historical Archives and the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book.
