igh school age to adults.</p>\n<p><strong>Why come to open mic?</strong></
p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage in the life-affirming practice of vulnerability and e
xpression.</li>\n<li>Learn from your fellow artists and participate in a c
reative community.</li>\n<li>Enjoy some local music and poetry\, for free!
How do I sign up to perform?</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>How do I sign up to
 perform?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Register ahead of time&nbsp\;using this&n

  performance slot.</li>\n<li>If you&rsquo\;re not sure about performing\,
your participation as a listener is equally appreciated! If you want to at
tend as an audience member only\, no need to register.</li>\n<li>If you fe
el inspired to perform once you get here\, check in with your hosts. We&rs
 quo\;ll save some slots for in-person signup</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Will
any equipment be provided?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our set-up will include
one vocal mic.</li>\n<li>We&rsquo\;ll also provide a guitar amp for music
ians to plug into.&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>It is not necessary to use the sound e
quipment. The space will allow for an acoustic set if you prefer.</li>\n<l
i>Any additional sound equipment or instruments will need to be provided b
 y the performer.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Anything I should know before I p
erform or attend?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>For eight minutes\, the mic is y
ours. For singers\, that&rsquo\;s enough time for two to three songs\, on
average. For poets\, it will depend on the length of your pieces. Do not f
eel obligated to fill your entire time slot\, but do take care not to go o
ver.&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Double-check that your pieces are appropriate for a
mixed-age audience (high school and older). If you&rsquo\;re not sure\, as
 k. Your set should not include any discriminatory or disturbing content. I
f people of any particular race\, gender\, disability\, or other dimension
of identity would feel unsafe or disrespected during your performance\, p
lease adjust your material.</li>\n<li>Listen well! It is incredibly genero
us of performers to let us into their worlds. Honor their vulnerability by
  staying quiet and attentive during performances. You never know &ndash\;
someone&rsquo\;s poem or song might contain the words you didn&rsquo\;t ev
en know you were waiting to hear.</li>\n</ul>\nhttps://dbrl.libnet.info/ev
