Social isolation is a public health crisis ! The environments we create and interact with fundamentally affect our me ntal\, physical\, and societal health. In fact\, loneliness and isolation increase the risk for individuals to develop mental health challenges in t heir lives\, and lacking connection can increase the risk for premature de ath to levels comparable to smoking daily. \;So\, what can we do about it? \;Join us at the Shadle Library to discuss the importance of crea ting safe\, healthy environments and the positive health impacts they have during childhood and across the lifespan.
\nThis is the second even t in a four-part Social Connections Learning Series. The focus for the day will be on the importance of supportive environments for parents/caregive rs and children between the ages of 0-5. \; We will use the Healthy Ou tcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) framework to highlight local examp les of environments that promote health and brainstorm ways to increase ac cess for all parents/caregivers and children. Participants will hear from presenters\, partake in conversation\, and engage in meaningful activities .
\nSocial workers who attend the event will receive continuing educ ation credits by Eastern Washington University School of Social Work.
