X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p><em>Toledo Lucas County Public Library wel
 comes\, <strong>Adam Nimoy</strong>\, to Toledo!</em></p>\n<p><strong>ABOU
T THE BOOK:</strong></p>\n<p>While the tabloids and fan publications portr
ayed the Nimoys as a "close family\," to his son Adam\, Leonard Nimoy was
a total stranger.</p>\n<p><br />The actor was as inscrutable as the iconic
half-Vulcan science officer he portrayed on Star Trek\, even to those clo
se to him.</p>\n<p><br />Now\, his son's poignant memoir explores their co
mplicated relationship and how it informed his views on marriage\, parenti
ng\, and later\, sobriety. Despite their differences\, both men ventured d
own parallel paths: marriages leading to divorce\, battling addiction\, an
d finding recovery. Most notably\, both men struggled to take the ninth st
ep in their AA journey: to make amends with each other.</p>\n<p><br />Disc
over how the son of Spock learned to navigate this tumultuous relationship
&mdash\;from Shabbat dinners to basement AA meetings&mdash\;and how he was
finally able to reconcile with his father&mdash\;and with himself.</p>\n<
p><strong>ABOUT THE AUTHOR:</strong></p>\n<p>Adam was born during the Eise
nhower administration to Leonard and Sandra Zoberblatt Nimoy. He attended
the University Elementary School\, a &ldquo\;lab school&rdquo\; run by UCL
A\, where he was subjected to numerous psychological experiments. The expe
rimentation continued at UC Berkeley in the form of mind-altering substanc
es from which he may\, or may not\, have fully recovered.</p>\n<p>In a sta
te of absolute certainty\, Adam attended Loyola Law School. He was wrong.
After seven years of practicing entertainment law and one moment of clarit
y\, Adam left his life as an attorney to follow his passion of making film
 s. After directing forty-five hours of network television\, some of it sub
lime\, some of it eminently unwatchable\, Adam&rsquo\;s career plummeted d
ue in large part to drug and alcohol addiction.</p>\n<p>On January 1\, 200
4\, Adam entered 12-step recovery hoping to achieve an attitude adjustment
. This was a New Year&rsquo\;s resolution he knew he had to keep. For 8 ye
ars\, he taught writing\, directing and acting at the New York Film Academ
y and taught filmmaking at Beit T&rsquo\;Shuvah\, an addiction treatment c
enter where the residents kept him on the straight and narrow.</p>\n<p>In
2016 Adam directed For The Love Of Spock\, a documentary about his father
and Mr. Spock and in 2024\, he published The Most Human\, a memoir about h
is relationship with his father and Mr. Spock.</p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE P
RESENTATION:</strong></p>\n<p>The moderated conversation will last about f
orty-five minutes\, followed by a brief question and answer session.</p>\n
