 p><strong>&ldquo\;A History of Indigestion\, the Gaza Story!&rdquo\; by Na
 zmi Kamal (BBA\, MBA\, M.Sc.\, PIDP\, School of Tourism and Recreation)</s
 trong><br />The Gaza strip is 365 square kilometers\, a little bigger than
  Surrey BC. It has been under blockade for 18 years with fragments of food
  being allowed in. The manufactured reality of hunger exceeds the scope of
  reason in its intent\, scope and manifestations in the daily lives of Pal
 estinians. This talk looks at Gaza&rsquo\;s food insecurity in dimensions 
 less common to the public\, while bringing the imposed calories diet into 
 full light.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>About Nazmi Kamal</strong></p>\n<p>Na
 zmi Kamal is an educator at the School of Tourism Management at Capilano U
 niversity. He is an advocate of food and travel with academic interests in
  food sustainability\, immigrant cuisine and food as a cultural identity. 
 He is a food researcher\, a home cook\, a farm volunteer\, and a responsib
 le consumer.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>About Capilano Universe Lecture Seri
 es</strong></p>\n<p><em>This presentation delves into the rich culinary he
 ritage of Gaza and the reality of its food insecurity between 2005 and 202
 3. Using research from fact-checked sources\, it will trace the history of
  fishing\, agriculture\, food trade\, artisanship\, and access in the Gaza
  strip. It is part of the Capilano Universe Lecture Series\, which began 1
 5 years ago to connect expert faculty from Capilano University with the co
 mmunity over topics of interest. Every spring\, a series of talks is put t
 ogether in collaboration with nearby public libraries &mdash\; this year\,
  the series brings on board libraries from the Sea to Sky region\, in both
  Squamish and Whistler.</em></p>\n<p><br /><em>The Squamish Public Library
  is partnering with CapU to make this event possible. Similar to the long-
 standing Quest Lecture Series that took place over many years in collabora
 tion with Quest University Canada\, Capilano Universe provides an opportun
 ity for a subject matter expert to share and discuss their areas of focus
