The practice of ekphrasis can open doorway s to memory and fresh language. We will look at several images and engage in an ekphrastic writing practice.
\nRobin Bruce is a writer\, visua l artist\, musician\, and contemplative artist\, weaving multiple discipli nes into performance art\, songs\, and manuscripts for television and film . She also teaches meditation\, deep relaxation\, and breathwork classes i n Northwest Arkansas\, using singing and guided visualization as portals i nto spaces of rest and deep care. She&rsquo\;s released three records unde r the name Dharampal and published two full-length manuscripts: one emphas izing memoir\, journaling\, and meditation\; the other\, a text-and-image piece titled\, Dear Gordon. In 2021\, she received the Artists 360 Practic ing Artist Grant\, and later\, the Benjamin Lever Tuition Fellowship from the University of Arkansas in 2023. Her M.A. is in Religious Studies from Naropa University and she&rsquo\;s in her fourth and final year of the MFA in Creative Writing and Translation at The University of Arkansas. Throug h her teaching\, performances\, recordings\, and writing\, she highlights themes of friendship\, love\, community\, and nature.
