About the Presenter
\nDr. Ramona La Roche is a Cultural Heritage Informaticist. \;A seaso ned Cultural Heritage professional working with galleries\, libraries\, ar chives\, museums\, repositories\, Digital Humanities projects\, Virtual an d Augmented Reality platforms which focus on South Carolina Gullah\, Flori da\, Caribbean\, African diasporic historical and family research\, conten t development\, art education/digital literacy\, and in-services. \;Sh e earned a Ph.D. in Cultural Heritage Informatics\, Communications and Inf ormation Science from the University of South Carolina\, an M.Ed. in Diver gent Learning from Columbia College (South Carolina) and a BFA in Photogra phy\, Creative Arts Therapy from the School of Visual Arts in New York Cit y. She serves as \;Librarian Supervisor of Adult Information Services at the Broward County African American Research Library and Cultural Cente r\, and consults as \;a divergent education specialist providing DEI t raining\, and special event programming.
\nAbout the Divisio n of Special Collections &\; Archives
\nMiami-Dade Publi c Library System&rsquo\;s Division of Special Collections &\; Archives holds rare and irreplaceable historical materials for the benefit of the p ublic and scholarly community. They oversee the Helen Muir Florida Collect ion\, 16mm Film Collection\, Cuban Collection of Rare Books &\; Ephemer a\, Genealogy Collection\, Vasari Project archive\, and Rare &\; Antiqu arian books from as early as the 17th century. The Division's primary goal is to provide the public with the contents of the vault at their request. Its collections include rare books\, original manuscripts\, over 18\,000 photographs\, prints\, artifacts\, audiovisual resources\, and electronic media.
