X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p><strong>Topic Description: </strong>Under
President Biden\, the U.S. has advanced new ideas about trade\, technology
\, industrial policy\, competition with China\, and the organization of th
e world economy. For most of the postwar era\, the U.S. has tied its globa
l leadership to cooperative agendas aimed at creating a more open-world tr
ading system\, but that has apparently come to an end. What are America&rs
quo\;s options and opportunities as a leader of the world economy? How wil
 l America&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;foreign policy for the middle class&rdquo\; and
strategic competition with China impact its leadership role? How can the
postwar rules and institutions of the world economy be made safe for econo
mic nationalism and great power competition?</p>\n<p><strong>Facilitator:&
nbsp\;</strong>Dr. Russell Triplett is an Associate Professor of Economics
at the University of North Florida. He currently serves as Chair of the D
epartment of Economics and Geography and as Interim Associate Dean in the
Coggin College of Business.</p>\n<p>Russell joined UNF in 2013 having prev
iously taught economics at Stetson University and Elon University. Russell
holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His pri
mary research interests are in international trade\, development\, and fin
ance\, with a special focus on global institutions. Russell regularly teac
hes courses in international economics\, microeconomic theory\, and statis
 tics.</p>\n<p><strong>About Great Decisions:</strong></p>\n<p>Great Decisi
