Robert Motherwell helped to bridge the Eur opean DADA and Surrealist art movements with the US emergence of Abstract Expressionism. \; Motherwell was educated and well-traveled. Helen Fra nkenthaler had the courage to bring beauty to the Abstract Expressionist m ovement. Together they were considered by their peers to be the GOLDEN COU PLE. Although their marriage would only last 13 years\, Motherwell's and F rankenthaler's contributions to the art world made a lasting impression.&n bsp\; They inspired and moved the needle on 20th Century Art. \;
