  in the Great Hall of the MLK Library\, near the First Floor entrance\, an
 d proceeds to the fourth floor for a 45 minute introduction to the exhibit
 .&nbsp\;</em><br /><em>Visitors who arrive after 12:05 p.m. should proceed
  directly to the fourth floor to join the tour.</em></p>\n<h4>About the Ex
 hibit:</h4>\n<p>The exhibit <em>Up from the People: Protest and Change in 
 D.C.</em> was installed in 2021 as a part of the modernization of the Libr
 ary\, to honor Dr. King's message and his connection to local activism. Th
 is permanent exhibit serves&nbsp\;as a portal to the Library&rsquo\;s reso
 urces\, especially The People's Archive\, and a laboratory for engagement 
 with Washington\, D.C.&rsquo\;s past\, present\, and future.</p>\n<p>The e
 xhibit has two main galleries: &nbsp\;</p>\n<ul>\n<li>The West Gallery\,&n
 bsp\;<em>A Revolution of Values</em>\, addresses Dr. Martin Luther King\, 
 Jr.&rsquo\;s message and his connection to the District and local activism
 . &nbsp\;</li>\n<li>The East Gallery\,&nbsp\;<em>D.C. Represented</em>\, c
 overs local politics and history through displays on Mayor Marion Barry\, 
 D.C. home rule\, and the cultural impact of go-go and punk music.&nbsp\;</
 li>\n</ul>\n<p>The exhibit is is located outside The People&rsquo\;s Archi
 ve on the Fourth Floor of the MLK Library\, and is open during the library
 &rsquo\;s regular public hours. <br />This exhibit was made possible by th
 e generous support of the DC Public Library Foundation\, the Institute of 
 Museum and Library Services\, and the National Endowment for the Humanitie
