While Mr. Meeker's name is familiar to many\, far fewer have heard o f his wife\, Eliza Jane\, despite her making history in her own right. She traveled the Oregon Trail\, was an advocate of women&rsquo\;s suffrage\, founder of Puyallup&rsquo\;s first library\, and was instrumental in the f amily&rsquo\;s business enterprises. Mrs. Meeker truly was the power behin d the "Hop King&rsquo\;s" throne.
