 /p>\n<p>This presentation will provide information on the history of how w
 e ended up with a Council initially\, some key Council stats\, what Counci
 lmember responsibilities include\, how DC&rsquo\;s legislative process wor
 ks\, how the oversight/budget process works\, and additional resources res
 idents can rely on. There will be a question and answer period immediately
  following the presentation.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The presentation will occur in
  the auditorium and is open to all. Registration is recommended but not re
 quired.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Whether you're a lifelong Washingtonian or a new re
 sident\, you don't want to miss this program!</p>\n<p>This program is part
  of 'Our City\, Our Stories'\, a program series that features informative 
 programs about local government and governance and educates residents on h
 ow they can be involved in the process\, while also presenting cultural pr
 ograms featuring authors\, artists\, and subject matter experts from Washi
 ngton\, DC.</p>\n<h2><strong>ABOUT THE PRESENTER</strong></h2>\n<p><img sr

 g>Josh Gibson</strong> is the Director of Communications and Public Inform
 ation Officer for the Council of the District of Columbia\, AKA the DC Cou
 ncil\, the city/county/state legislature of the District of&nbsp\; &nbsp\;
 Columbia.&nbsp\; In that role\, he has achieved recognition by communicati
 ng in an approachable and nontraditional manner. The headline of a 2018 Wa
 shington Post profile declared &ldquo\;the D.C. Council&nbsp\; &nbsp\;went
  from dry to wry thanks to this guy\,&rdquo\; and a Washington City Paper 
 profile declared him &ldquo\;strong in the ways of the Twitterverse.&rdquo
 \;</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;Josh serves as the informal historian for the DC Council
 \, and as informal curator of the John A. Wilson Building\, DC's city hall
