 g>About workshop leader:</strong></p>\n<p>Joanne was born during a dictato
 rship and grew up in the aftermath of military occupation in Panama. Raise
 d at her grandparents home\, she learned from an early age about the power
  of each individual to impact their community. She graduated from high sch
 ool in Panama City and moved to Dallas\, Texas in 2000\, where she studied
  English and psychology at Brookhaven Community College.</p>\n<p><br />In 
 2010\, Joanne moved to Bend and advocated for underrepresented communities
  at the Volunteers in Medicine clinic of the Cascades\, Latino Community A
 ssociation\, Capaces Leadership Institute and more. She has served as a co
 mmissioner with the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs\, Bend's Human R
 ights and Equity Commission\, and was a member of the 2020 Wildfire Recove
 ry Council convened by Gov Kate Brown. Joanne lives with her two teen daug
 hters. She has developed a love of poetry from her father. She continues t
