X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Join us for a reception for local artist K
ara Razek\, whose art is featured in Bexley Public Library's lobby March 4
through April 29th. Come see the new art\, chat with the artist\, and enj
 oy refreshments!</p>\n<p><strong>Kara Razek</strong> is a Bexley-based art
ist originally from Kansas City\, Kansas\, who moved to Columbus\, Ohio in
1987 to attend the Columbus College of Art &amp\; Design (CCAD). She grad
uated with a Master of File Ans (MPA) in 1992.&nbsp\;Kara's approach to pa
inting is primarily alla prima-working quickly and intuitively\, with no r
igid routine. Her work is rooted in realism\, but she embraces experimenta
tion and the freedom to explore new techniques. As a member of a vibrant g
roup of plein-air artists (Central Ohio Plein-Air and Ohio Plein Air Socie
ty) Kara enjoys painting in the city and local parks\, sharing both the su
ccesses and challenges of the process. Together\, they celebrate the diver
sity of their interpretations\, each artist capturing the essence of a sce
ne in their own unique way. Recently\, Kara has expanded her practice to i
nclude still-lite painting\, focusing on florals and fruit. This shift all
ows her to explore the nuances of oil painting without the constraints of
changing light in the outdoor environment. Working in the studio\, where s
he can control lighting for extended periods\, has given her a deeper unde
rstanding of the medium and allows for a more relined approach to color an
d form. Kara's work continues to evolve as she seeks to balance the immedi
acy of plein-air painting with the focused study of still life\, always dr
iven by a deep curiosity\, love of learning and a passion for capturing th
 e world around her.</p>\nhttps://bexley.libnet.info/event/12857760
