The \;Albion Bolton Historical Society (ABHS) will have a display highl ighting our local history on the second floor of the Albion Bolton Branch\ , near the Local History section\, during Ontario Heritage Week. ABHS will be answering questions on history\, display items\, photographs and ephem era.
\n\nEach February\, the Ontario Heritage Trust invites O ntarians to participate in Heritage Week in Ontario &ndash\; to celebrate heritage in all its forms (cultural and natural\, architectural\, archaeol ogical and collections)\, its diverse traditions and cultural expressions. Heritage Week provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals and commun ities to reflect on their contributions to Ontario\, how heritage is conse rved\, promoted and commemorated\, and how they might shape the future.
\nSince 1974\, the third Monday every February has been identified as Heritage Day in Canada.
\nIn 1985\, the Ontario government designate d the third week in February as Ontario Heritage Week\, with the federal H eritage Day kicking off the week.
\nMany heritage organizations and municipalities have used Heritage Day and Ontario Heritage Week as vehicle s to stimulate awareness of heritage resources and heritage-related issues within their communities\, and to honour the organizations and volunteers who have worked to protect Ontario&rsquo\;s irreplaceable heritage resour ces.
