DESCRIPTION:Suzie Alvey is a freelance artist who works in oil\, acrylic\,
  pastel and watercolor. Program sponsored by the Friends of the Galt Ocean

 ons in the United States and Europe\, including those of best-selling auth
 or\, Nelson DeMille and in public collections such as the Garden City Vill
 age Hall and Public Library in New York. Alvey has participated in solo an
 d group art shows in New York and Florida.</p>\n<p>Suzie became a juried m
 ember of the Art League of Nassau County in 1987 and was the publicity boa
 rd member for eight years. She has won a number of art show awards over th
 e years at the National Art League\, where she has been a juried member. S
 he's also won prizes at the ALNC and the Independent Art Society. She is a
  photographer and won a 2013 "Town of Hempstead Calendar Contest Shutterbu
 g Award" and the Cathedral of the Incarnation calendar for 2017.</p>\n<p>S
 uzie moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2018 where she has been a board member of
  the Gold Coast Watercolor Society and a member of the Broward Art Guild. 
 She conducted an art workshop for the Broward Art Guild.</p>\n<p>Ms. Alvey
  has studied with Dan Slapo\, PSA Master Pastelist (Pastel Society of Amer
 ica) in New York\; Howard Rose (oils) in New York and Abel Marquez\, PSA M
 aster Pastelist in Florida.</p>\n<p>In 2012 Suzie was awarded the "Preside
 nt's Volunteer Service Award" from President Barak Obama for "extraordinar
 y charity work." Suzie won NYS Assemblyman McKevitt&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Women
  of Distinction Award&rdquo\; in his district in 2009. Suzie graduated SUN
