Attendees at this program will participate
in dyslexia simulation activities to gain insight into what is is like to
be dyslexic. The activities will be guided by Certified Academic Language
Therapist and Certified Dyslexia Evaluator\, Diana Plattner. Diana and he
r business partner\, Meredith Henson\, operate Lexicon - a speech\, langua
ge\, and reading clinic in Northwest Arkansas. Their hope for this program
is to promote dyslexia awareness and provide advocacy for those with dysl
exia.
Diana is a Certified Academic Language Therapist
\, a Certified Dyslexia Evaluator\, a Certified Barton Reading &\; Spel
ling System Instructor\, and trained in multiple literacy intervention sys
tems. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a background in
writing\, human relations\, and education. Diana has been involved in lit
eracy and dyslexia education since 2004 when she began working in a variet
y of roles at her Little Rock family business. Over the years\, Diana has
focused her passion and training on dyslexia and reading disorders and in
2013 opened the clinic in NWA before joining forces with sister\, Meredith
Henson\, in 2016 to add speech-language services. Outside of her professi
onal life\, Diana enjoys
spending time with her husband\, 2 year old
son\, family\, and friends. She loves to travel\, read\, spend time outdoo
rs\, and play in Fayetteville!
Meredith is a Speech-Language Patho
logist trained in a variety of specialized programs\, although she has ext
ensive training in speech sound disorders and language and literacy develo
pment\, specifically dyslexia. She graduated with her Masters in Communica
tion Disorders from University of Arkansas\, and has since dedicated the m
ajority of her continued education and professional development to the lan
guage and literacy field.
