 the opera tells the tragic tale of Lucia Ashton\, caught in a family feud 
 in 17th-century Scotland. Sabatino Vacca explores the opera&rsquo\;s endur
 ing popularity and discusses the heightened emotions of the story\, the ps
 ychological depth of its characters\, and the dramatic arias in its compos
