 know it or not\, our numeric literacy &mdash\; whether we can speak the la
 nguage of math &mdash\; is a critical determinant of social and economic p
 ower.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Counted Out shows us the power of math that undergirds 
 our democracy. Who holds that power? Who doesn&rsquo\;t? And how can we al
 l speak the language of math to fully participate in a world that belongs

 en selected to screen at dozens of film festivals\, including the San Fran
 cisco International Film Festival\, and Original Thinkers in Telluride\, C
 olorado which spotlighted the intersection of mathematical thinking and ci
 vic health. An election-themed screening at a KALW public radio on Nationa
 l Voter Registration Day marked the launch of an impact and community scre
 ening tour.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><a href="math.uark.edu">The Department of Mathe
 matical Sciences</a> is committed to high-level mathematical research and 
 mathematics instruction and to the values of a broad\, interdisciplinary e
 ducation\, preparing students for a variety of different career goals\, in
 cluding industry\, education\, and further graduate study.&nbsp\; The Depa
 rtment is also committed to bringing together and strengthening the math c
 ommunity to increase access to math and inspire the broader Arkansas commu
