 e&rsquo\;ve always done things&rdquo\; mentality\, and decision making for
  political reasons to support healthy and prosperous cities?</p>\n<p>What 
 are the biggest issues facing Ontario municipalities today\, how does the 
 Institute support partners in building healthy and prosperous cities? Dr. 
 Minaker will question some of the unquestionable truths of city building. 
 Are safe playgrounds actually better for kids? Is public participation alw
 ays good? Can we design our way into vibrant cities?</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><str
 ong>About the Speaker</strong></p>\n<p>Dr. Leia Minaker is the inaugural D
 irector of the Future Cities Institute at the University of Waterloo and a
 n Associate Professor in the School of Planning in the Faculty of Environm
 ent. She holds a PhD in Public Health and her research focuses on designin
 g cities to improve health\, with a focus on urban food systems and urban 
 design for mental health. She served as Director of Waterloo&rsquo\;s Surv
 ey Research Centre from 2020-2023.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>About C
