\n< p>\nThis course teaches students essential\, communicative French t o enhance the experience and enjoyment of traveling to a French-speaking c ountry. Many language courses focus on grammar and spelling\, leaving stud ents as passive observers who are hesitant to interact with native speaker s. In this course\, beginning students learn to speak in authentic cultura l contexts and to develop the skills needed to interact willingly and fear lessly with the French people they encounter on their travels. Students wi ll learn to navigate and communicate in common settings such as café \;s\, hotels\, tourist attractions\, transportation systems\, and the like . The class is highly interactive and engages students immediately in usin g the language. No prior French experience is needed.
\nMadame Palme r taught middle and high school French for over 20 years. Her passion for the language began when she was an exchange student to France in her early teens. The joy of experiencing another language and culture led her to Mi ddlebury College in Vermont where she majored in French and lived in Paris for a year.
