Morbid curiosity\, or an interest in unple asant things\, is a human reaction captivating individuals across the nati on. True crime media consumption\, ranging from books to podcasts to docum entaries\, has grown rapidly in popularity and this book club leans into t hat. We may also touch on topics of cults\, the paranormal and history as we explore the dangerous and more frightening side of the library's collec tion. \; \;
\nThis month we will discuss Midnight in Che rnobyl by Adam Higginbotham. In 1986 a disastrous nuclear power plant explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power station left devastation in its wake. Determined to tell the story from the account of those closest to th e disaster\, Higginbotham conducted interviews and poured over a countless number of recently declassified archives that revealed the true narrative of the explosion.
