  you on core principles of painting using acrylic and gouache\, chosen for
  their versatility and accessible qualities. Beginners are welcome and enc
 ouraged!</p>\n<p>In this eight-week course\, students aged 55 and older wi
 ll learn the fundamentals of working with paint. Through working from obse
 rvation\, technical demonstrations\, focused painting projects and hands-o
 n instruction\, you'll become familiar with the materials and techniques o
 f painting and develop skills that will enable you to progress to the crea
 tion of more advanced work and pursue a creative vision.</p>\n<p>Paints an
 d supplies provided. An exhibit of student work is planned for Saturday\, 
 May 17\, 1-3 p.m. at the Columbia Public Library.</p>\n<p>This program is 
 supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through a grant 
 from the Missouri State Library. Additional support is provided by Orr Str
