 ration is encouraged but not required.</strong></p>\n<p>Eli Cranor is a na
 tive Arkansan. He is the Writer in Residence at Arkansas Tech University\,
  and his newspaper column "Where I'm Writing From" appears weekly in the <
 em>Arkansas Democrat-Gazette</em>.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>His debut novel\,&nbsp\;
 <em>Don't Know Tough</em>\, won the&nbsp\;Edgar Award for Best First Novel
 . It&nbsp\;was followed by&nbsp\;<em>Ozark Dogs</em>\, which was named one
  of the best crime novels of 2023 by the <em>New York Times</em> and <em>T
 he Guardian\,&nbsp\;</em>and&nbsp\;<em>Broiler</em>\, which was named an A
 mazon Editors' Best Book of 2024. His latest novel\, <em>Mississippi Blue 
 42</em>\, debuts in August of 2025.</p>\n<p><i>Broiler</i>&nbsp\;explores 
 the troubles of two families\, both taking desperate measures to gain a hi
 gher economic foothold\, in the underworld of an Arkansas chicken processi
