\nKrueger's newest book Spirit Crossing is the 21st volume in the Cork O'Connor mystery series\, which follows a form er Chicago police officer as he cracks cases and navigates the terrain of northern Minnesota. Krueger has also achieved success with several standal one novels. The 2013 novel Ordinary Grace won the prestigious Edg ar Award from The Mystery Writers of America and This Tender Land (2019) remained on the New York Times Bestsellers list for 16 weeks. More recently his standalone novel The River We Remember (2023) debut ed at #5 on New York Times Bestsellers list and was nominated for Goodread s Reader's Choice award for Favorite Mystery &\; Thriller. \;
\nGrowing up in the Cascade Mountain region of Oregon shaped Krueger's lo ve of the mountains and nature\, which serve as the backdrop for much of h is work. Before becoming a full-time author\, Kent worked as a timber logg er\, construction worker and a freelance journalist. He attended Stanford University\, but was expelled in 1970 for protesting the Vietnam War durin g that tumultuous era. Krueger and his wife have been married for 40 years and make their home in St. Paul\, Minnesota.
