English Conversation Group is for anyone f rom any language or cultural background who wants to practice speaking (an d listening to) English in a welcoming\, social space.
\nBeing comfo rtable and confident with social\, informal conversation is important even in more formal environments\, such as at work or college. This is how you make positive connections with others\, that can help you later\, and how you make friends. Improve your confidence and fluency in English\, while learning about American life and other cultures\, and make community conne ctions. Different topics and activities\, often using pictures\, will be u sed each time to keep the group interesting and interactive\, for any leve l.
\nNote: This is not a &ldquo\;class&rdquo\; in the traditional se nse. The facilitator is not a teacher\, and there is limited direct gramma r instruction\, if any\, with more of a focus on vocabulary and actually s peaking. Other resources or referrals may be provided as needed or request ed. This is a space for participants to learn by doing\, by spending their time talking! The facilitator may or may not be bilingual.
