 Sarah Hinkelman\, will be joining us to speak on the richness and complexi
 ty of the Hopewell people as it survives within their ceremonial earthwork
 s\, which are Ohio's only UNESCO World Heritage site\, and one of only 26 
 in the entire United States. Comprising 8 separate structures whose ages r
 ange between 1600 and 2000 years old\, these preserve a rich picture of a 
 prehistoric Ohio culture famed for their massive scale and complex alignme
 nts with the solstices\, lunar cycle\, and stars.</p>\n<p>Long recognized 
 as important Ohio historical sites\, the campaign to have them recognized 
 by the World Heritage list began in 1999 and became official in 2023. This
  honor places the Hopewell earthworks alongside world-famous monuments lik
 e the Great Pyramid of Giza\, the Taj Mahal\, the Great Barrier Reef\, and
  Stonehenge\, but Ohio's are only an hour from the Liberty Library\, makin
 g them an easy visit. So come learn about the earthworks and their builder
 s\, discover DCDL's resources to help you learn more about those who lived
  here before us\, and then plan your visit to this local treasure.&nbsp\;<
