This event will be facilitated by Milani Pelley\, one of the City o f Berkeley's art grant recipients. \;
\n'For her city-funded pro ject\, Milani Pelley\, a mother\, poet and educator who was born and raise d in South Berkeley\, held a series of 17 informal interviews with Black g irls and women\, which she calls &ldquo\;curious conversations\,&rdquo\; a nd is turning her findings into a &ldquo\;literary arts love letter&rdquo\ ; about Black women\, their bodies and female blood. \;
\nA ment ee of \;Berkeley poet laureate Aya de Leó\;n\, who now facilitat es \;literary arts \;workshops at Berkeley public schools\, Pelley uses her poetry as historical documentation and self-expression. She plan s to give a public presentation of her work at 2:30 p.m. April 12 at the B erkeley Public Library&rsquo\;s Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch.
\nT he event\, titled Loving Black Women&rsquo\;s Body Showcase\, aims to enco urage self-love and inclusion\, and will feature her poetry\, artwork comp iled from an open call for art (on the theme of loving black women&rsquo\; s bodies) and an open mic.'
